I'm getting warnings about mobile device policies on my phone. Why do I have to allow Brenau to access my mobile device?

This simply allows the University to enforce security controls around the use of Brenau data on the phone. It has nothing to do with your phone itself or the other apps on it. The only thing it really allows the university (despite any dire warnings) to do are:

1. Enforce a passcode so that Brenau data on the phone is encrypted
2. Remotely wipe the Brenau data (only) from the device if it is reported as stolen (we are only authorized by policy to do an "account wipe" - we will not wipe your entire phone unless you ask us to)

You can read more about mobile device management (MDM) here:

If you don't want Brenau to enforce policies on the Brenau data on the phone, you can simply remove your Brenau email account from your phone (or from any other that might contain Brenau data such as Google Calendar, Google Drive, etc). Once all Brenau accounts are removed - you'll stop receiving the notifications. Due to the fact that Brenau accepts financial aid data from the federal government, Brenau data has to be protected with the same controls as all other CUI (controlled unclassified information). If we are found to be in violation of these controls, we run the risk of losing access to federal financial aid.

If you are an Android user and experience issues during the policy app activation process you can do the following:

1. Try rebooting the phone if it locks up during the app installation process.
2. You can always install the app manually by installing the android device policy app. You can read about how to install it here: https://support.google.com/a/users/answer/2364439?hl=en
