I'm receiving emails impersonating someone I know

Phishing emails attempt to get personal information or even money from you because they know you trust the person you think is the sender of the email.

DON'T

We strongly recommend that you avoid clicking links in these messages, forwarding them to other users, or replying to them. If you have concerns about a communication, try calling the person on the phone to confirm if it was from them.  

DO

If the message seems like an attempt to get your personal information, help our system learn from such attempts by reporting the message as phishing:

1. In Gmail, open the message you'd like to report
2. Click on the 3 vertical dots next to Reply button at the top-right of the message pane and select Report Phishing OR you can click this icon: 
   

There are also some things you can do to prevent legitimate email from being marked as spam.
